Setting up automatic forwarding for your old email address

Once you have your new GOV.UK email address through Parish Online, you'll want to decommission your old email address.

There are two steps to this:
  1. Transferring the archive of emails into your new mailbox
  2. Setting up automatic forwarding so any newly incoming emails get forwarded to your new GOV.UK address
To do the latter, use one of the tutorials below that corresponds to your old mailbox provider.
  1. Gmail automatic forwarding
  2. BT Internet automatic forwarding
  3. Outlook.com automatic forwarding
  4. Yahoo automatic forwarding
Note that you don't need to set an out-of-office for your old mailbox because the email will be delivered to your new GOV.UK address which you can then respond to. Therefore you don't need to notify the sender that you have a new address.
