You can add a headshot to your grid of staff, clerks and councillors section.
Method
The method for doing this is the same as for adding a header image to a news story or page, so please follow this tutorial:
Setting a Featured Image
Guidance
Having good looking images for your staff and councillors makes your site look great, so taking a good photo is important.
The website will crop your photo into a landscape frame, so selfies don't tend to work well.
When gathering photos from your councillors offer the following guidance:
- Take the photo in landscape orientation. (this it the most important thing)!
- Photos should be ask close to 3:2 aspect ratio as possible, with the subject within those bounds.
- Ideally have someone take the photo for you, standing at least 3 metres (3 long strides) away.
- Include shoulders and head, including complete hairstyle, with space above and on each side.
- Try not to have a messy or cluttered background.
- Take the photo in good light, preferably not back-lit.
- If possible, the subject should be slightly lower than the camera (to avoid excessive nostril!)
- If you're good at dabbling with photoshop, then you could replace the background with a muted colour, e.g. #a5bacd (which is a light blue).
- Ensure the photo is high resolution. Anything on a modern phone will be fine.
- Minimum recommended size is 225px x 148 px
Good Examples
Note: good looking images are important, but your councillors don't necessarily need to be good looking. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
