Overview
In Zoho WorkDrive, every time a file is changed, an older copy is saved automatically.
This guide shows you how to:
• View those older versions
• Restore a file if something goes wrong
Use version history if:
• A file looks wrong or corrupted
• You accidentally overwrote something
• A file was changed and you need the previous version
• You suspect ransomware or unwanted changes
Method
Go to Zoho WorkDrive in your browser, the top right icon will show you the apps available, select Workdrive (or through the Desktop app it will take you to the same location)
Navigate to the folder where your file is stored
Locate the file you want to check and open it.
Then, File > Document Versions > Document History
This opens a panel showing all saved versions of the file
You will see a list like above or more realistically as below:
• Version – Today, 10:30am
• Version – Yesterday, 3:15pm
• Version – Last week
Each version shows:
• Date and time
• Who made the change (the profile picture)
And includes
Click a version to preview it (if available)
This helps confirm it’s the correct version before restoring and you can highlight what has changed in that version using See What’s Changed (image below)
Click Restore this version
The file will return to that earlier version
But just in case:
• The current version is not lost
• It will still exist as another version in the history
Summary
• WorkDrive saves previous versions automatically
• You can view and restore them anytime
• This helps recover from mistakes or file issues
Best Practice
• If something looks wrong, don’t edit the file further
• Go straight to Version History and restore a clean version
This feature acts as your safety net, helping you recover files quickly and easily without needing IT support.
