Handing over the clerk's email to a new clerk

Overview

When a clerk leaves and a new clerk starts, not only will you want to reset the password but you'll need to update the security setting on the account. You'll need to make sure that access to any backup email addresses  or phone numbers is provided to the new clerk or these are changed ahead of them leaving.

Going forward, we would strongly recommend that the Parish Council provides the clerk with a Council-owned mobile phone and SIM card. This will make managing Two-Factor Authentication much easier and will help avoid access issues when there is a change of clerk.

Method - Two Factor Authentication not set up

1. Check what phone number and email addresses are connected to the clerk's email account by going to their profile.

2. Go to my account

3. Under profile check what email addresses and mobile numbers are associated with the clerk's account and change these as necessary.

Method - Two Factor Authentication is in use

1. Go into the account profile.

2. Go to my account.

3. Go to Multi-Factor Authentication and select one of the MFA Modes to set up or update.

 4. You can also set up a MFA Recovery Option
